FlipPilot Advertising

Advertiser terms

These are the terms for advertising your business in the FlipPilot app. They're written to be read. By booking an advert you agree to them.

1. Who we are

FlipPilot is run by Andrew Bean, trading as FlipPilot, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. You can contact us at support@flippilot.co.uk. "You" means the business booking the advert, and whoever books it on its behalf confirms they're allowed to.

2. What you're buying

A place for your advert in the FlipPilot app, in the places you choose (the Messages banner, the Marketplace feed, the scan cross-over or the scan full page), shown to people within the distance of your postcode you choose. Every place is shared: advertisers take turns, and we limit how many share a place in one area so each is seen. Adverts are always marked as sponsored.

We don't promise a number of showings, taps or customers. You can see what the app counted, by day, in your portal. Counts are showings on phones, not separate people.

3. Checking your advert

A person reads every advert before it shows, helped by automatic checks. We may turn an advert down, or ask you to change it, and we'll tell you why. Changes to a running advert are read again before they show. Nothing is charged until your advert is approved.

4. What your advert must be

Your advert, logo and photos must be legal, decent, honest and truthful, and follow the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (the CAP Code). In particular:

  • It must be about your own real business, and not pretend to be anyone else.
  • Prices, offers and claims must be accurate and ones you can back up.
  • You must own, or have permission to use, everything in it: words, photos, logo and designs.
  • No adverts for weapons, tobacco or vapes, gambling, adult content, dating, payday loans, cryptocurrency or other investments, or anything that needs a licence you don't hold. Alcohol and age-restricted goods only with our agreement.
  • Nothing hateful, violent, misleading, or aimed at children.

You're responsible for your advert. If someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs.

5. Price and payment

The price is shown before you book and stays the same for as long as your booking runs. For bookings made during our launch offer, your first 2 months are for the price of 1: each of those months is half price. You pay monthly in advance, by card through our payment provider Stripe (or by invoice if we've agreed it). We're not VAT registered, so no VAT is added. If a payment fails, your advert stops showing at the end of the month you've paid for.

5a. A quiet first month

Also part of the launch offer: if your first paid month is quieter than you hoped, you can ask for a month free from your advert's page in the portal. You can ask once per advert, from the end of its first paid month until two months after that, while the advert is still running (not cancelled). When we add it, a card payer's next monthly payment is covered by a credit on their account; an advert paid by invoice gets a month more of paid time at no charge. The free month has no cash value and can't be moved to another advert.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel any time in your portal. Your advert keeps showing to the end of the month you've paid for, then stops, and nothing more is charged. We don't refund part months, except as below. If you're a consumer rather than a business, you also have any rights the law gives you.

We may pause or remove an advert that breaks these terms, is reported by people and found to be a problem, or that we reasonably think could harm people using FlipPilot. If we remove an advert that did nothing wrong, or stop offering advertising, we'll refund the unused part of the month.

7. Our responsibility

We'll run the app with reasonable care and skill, but the app may sometimes be unavailable. Apart from things the law doesn't let us limit, our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us in the 3 months before the problem, and we're not responsible for lost profits or business.

8. Your information

We use your email and business details to run your account, check and show your adverts, take payment and contact you about them. Card details go to Stripe, never to us. See our Privacy Policy for more.

9. Changes

We may change these terms or our prices. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of a change that affects a running booking, and you can cancel before it applies.

10. The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute (unless you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, when your local courts can too).
