Terms of Use
Last updated 23 October 2026 · Version 1
These are the rules for using FlipPilot. They are written to be read. By using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
The short version
- You must be 18 or over.
- Prices are estimates and guidance, not a valuation or advice. Check before you spend.
- The Marketplace is a platform. You deal directly with the other person, and we aren't a party to the sale and never hold the money.
- Never pay in advance to a stranger, never pay outside the app by gift card or transfer, and meet in public places.
- We can remove listings and close accounts that break these rules. You can delete your account whenever you like.
1. Who we are
FlipPilot is run by Andrew Bean, trading as FlipPilot, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at support@flippilot.co.uk. These terms cover the FlipPilot app, the Marketplace, boot fair listings and the pages on flippilot.co.uk. How we handle your information is in our Privacy Policy.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or over. The app asks you to confirm this when you start.
- You need an account to scan, sell, message other people, review a seller or report something. Browsing the Marketplace and boot fairs doesn't need one.
- Give a real email address that you can read. We email you a six-digit code to sign in. Keep your codes to yourself: anyone who has one can use your account, and you are responsible for what is done through it.
- You can delete your account whenever you like (see Delete my account). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
3. Scans, prices and vehicle checks
- Prices are estimates. They come from public listings (for example on eBay and Google Shopping), which are asking prices and not sold prices, and from an AI's best guess. They are guidance, not a valuation or financial advice. Items can sell for much more or less. You are responsible for your own buying and selling decisions.
- The AI can be wrong. A photo you scan is analysed by an AI service to identify the item. It may get it wrong, so please check.
- We are not connected to the companies whose data we use. eBay, Google, Amazon and the other names belong to their owners, and FlipPilot is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
- Vehicle information comes from the DVLA and DVSA, may be incomplete, and is not a full history check. It does not tell you whether a car has outstanding finance, has been stolen or written off, or what condition it is in. Do a proper history check before you pay for a car.
4. Free scans, Pro and credits
- Free: every account gets 100 free scans each calendar month. They don't carry over to the next month.
- Pro is an optional monthly subscription. It adds unlimited scanning (within fair use, which is currently up to 150 scans a day), extra price checks on higher-value items and export to eBay. The price is shown in Google Play or the App Store before you buy. It renews each month until you cancel. Payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled by the store under its terms, alongside your rights under UK consumer law. Cancelling stops the next renewal.
- What Pro includes may change. If we change it in a way that makes Pro worse, we will tell you before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then.
- Credits. Some extras (for example boosting a listing, listing a car once our launch offer ends, or unlocking a story chapter early) use scan credits. The app shows the price in credits before you confirm. Credits don't expire while your account is open, have no cash value, can't be sold or transferred, and are lost if you delete your account or we close it for breaking these terms. If a store refunds a credit purchase, we take those credits back.
- A scan that fails with an error isn't counted against your allowance.
5. The Marketplace
- FlipPilot is a platform. When you buy or sell, the deal is between you and the other person. We aren't a party to it, we don't hold money, and we don't check items or sellers. Seller names, ratings and reviews come from users and aren't verified.
- If you sell: only list things you own or are allowed to sell, describe them honestly, use your own photos or ones you have the right to use, and be clear about faults. Keep to the law.
- You may not list stolen, counterfeit or illegal items, weapons, drugs, anything dangerous or recalled, adult material, live animals, or anything that breaks the law or somebody's rights. We can add to this list in the app.
- Messages are private between you and the other person, but we may read a conversation if it is reported. Don't send abuse, threats or spam.
- Reviews must be honest and based on a real dealing. No fake reviews, and no reviews in exchange for payment.
- Your legal rights depend on who you deal with. If you buy from a business (a "Trade seller"), you have the rights a consumer has against a trader. If you buy from a private person, you generally have far fewer.
6. Selling a car
- You may list a car only if it is yours or you are allowed to sell it, and you must give its real registration number. We check it with the DVLA and DVSA. We may refuse or remove a listing when the registration isn't recognised, the make doesn't match, the car is already listed by someone else, or the mileage you give is lower than the highest mileage recorded at any of its MOT tests (allowing a small margin for rounding).
- A private seller can have one car for sale at a time. A seller who sells as a business can list more, up to the limit shown in the app. A car listing lasts 30 days.
- While our launch offer runs, listing is free, and trade sellers' listings are free for now as well. After that, listing a car uses credits, and the app shows the price before you confirm. Credits aren't refunded if you delete or sell the listing early, or if we remove it for breaking these terms.
- The "checked with the DVLA" label and the MOT history mean only that the registration exists and that those details come from official records. They do not mean that FlipPilot has inspected the car, that the seller owns it, that it is free of finance or hasn't been stolen or written off, or that its condition or mileage is as described. Buyers should make their own checks before paying.
- Dealerships may list cars through FlipPilot Dealer OS. They are labelled as trade sellers.
7. Boot fairs and events
Boot fairs, markets and other events are listed by organisers. We don't check them, and dates, prices and cancellations can change, so confirm with the organiser before you travel. Organisers must give accurate details.
8. Boosts, adverts and sponsored content
A boost puts one of your live listings at the top of the feed for seven days, marked "Promoted". It doesn't guarantee views, messages or a sale, and it isn't refunded if the listing ends early or is removed for breaking these terms. Adverts from businesses are marked as sponsored. We don't endorse advertisers or promoted items. You can report any advert or listing in the app. Businesses that advertise also agree to our advertiser terms.
9. Operation Nightglass and games
Operation Nightglass is a story in the app. The first chapter is free and later chapters unlock over time, or sooner with credits. It is entertainment and has nothing to do with real events. We may add, change or end story content and games.
10. Exporting to eBay
If you connect your eBay account, you allow us to create eBay listings you ask for, and only those. You can disconnect at any time. The eBay listing is yours, and you are responsible for it under eBay's own terms.
11. Staying safe, and reporting
- Meet in a public place. Don't pay in advance to someone you haven't met. Don't pay by gift card or by transferring money to a stranger. Never share your bank details or a sign-in code.
- Use Report in the app on any listing, person or advert, or email support@flippilot.co.uk. We read reports and can remove listings and adverts and suspend or close accounts. If you think we got a decision wrong, email us and we will look at it again.
- If someone is in danger or you think a crime has been committed, contact the police.
12. What you post
Your listings, photos, messages, reviews and event details stay yours. By posting them you allow us to show and store them in the app for as long as they are live, and to remove them if they break these terms. You promise that you have the right to post what you post and that it doesn't break the law or anyone's rights.
13. Fair use
Please don't copy, scrape or resell what the app shows, use bots or scripts, try to get round the limits or security, interfere with the service, or use it for anything unlawful. We use limits to protect the service and other people.
14. Taking things down, and ending your account
We can remove content, and suspend or close accounts, that break these terms or put people at risk, and we'll tell you why where we can. You can stop using FlipPilot and delete your account at any time. What happens to your information then is on the Delete my account page.
15. Our responsibility
We provide the app with reasonable care and skill. We can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or stop features. If we fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss that was a foreseeable result. We are not responsible for what other users say or do, for decisions you make based on estimates, for loss that we couldn't reasonably have foreseen, or for problems caused by things outside our control. If you use FlipPilot for business, we are not responsible for lost profit, revenue or opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer, or anything the law doesn't allow us to limit, including our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for fraud.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will ask you to confirm the new version in the app before you carry on.
17. The law, and complaints
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also use the courts there. If you have a complaint, please email support@flippilot.co.uk first so we can try to put it right.
